Fun at the cabin

The Howard's invited us to their cabin a few weeks ago and we had so much fun. The girls got to swing on the tree swing, ride four-wheelers, feed horses, go fishing, ride a zip-line and just enjoy the outdoors. What a fabulous swing!
Craig got to fly fish for the first time. Notice the garbage bags tied to his belt with bungies.....he is very inventive. He claimed it worked but next time should probably get some real waiter boots.
Poor Olivia and her allergies. We got back from feeding the horses and she was complaining that her eye hurt. I looked for something in her eye but didn't see anything and told her to just keep playing and try to forget about it. She came back about 10 minutes later and said she didn't feel good. We then noticed she puffed up like a balloon and needed some Benadryl. Liz and I looked everywhere in the cabin and then found one small pink tablet. Liz asked me if it was a Benadryl and I said I am pretty sure. Once she took the little pink tablet her face returned to normal but knocked her out for about 45 minutes. So Olivia is either allergic to horses or the grass/weeds we were feeding them. Next time I will pack all of her allergy medicine and not forget it...duh mom.

Diesel Drag Races

Last Friday was the diesel drag races at Rocky Mountain Raceways. Craig entered last year and thought it was so fun that he decided to do it again. He also did some modifications to his work truck so that he could enter that as well. His friend Tom Hasleton drove the work truck and had a blast. About half the neighborhood and our family all came out to support us. Craig had to be in the wide open class this year which is the highest class due to all of his modifications (go figure). This made it a lot harder to win due to the other racers being professionals and racing on a regular basis, where this was only Craig's second time. He had so much fun and can't wait to "blow black smoke" next year!
Craig taking off and blowing black smoke everywhere.
His speed was 95.78 mph and 14.75 seconds for the 1/4 mile!
The almight work truck, which was pretty dang fast.

Labor Day Dune Trip

At the sand dunes again? Of course, it was Labor Day weekend. Madi and Harley are getting to be such good riders and can follow mom and dad anywhere. Olivia is also getting more daring and riding around camp when the rest of us are trying to relax. We love spending time together as a family. Craig had a good time racing his 700 at Sand Mountain but was wishing his 450 was there to race everyone else he couldn't beat. We enjoyed having our friends and family come with us to the dunes. I look forward to spending many more weekends together!

Back to school!

Madi, Harley and Olivia's first day of school.
They were not excited about the sun in their eyes.

Walking Olivia to line up with her new class. She is now in 1st grade and gone ALL DAY! We miss her at home:(

Olivia in first grade at Eastlake Elementary.

The girls have a wonderful opportunity of attending a brand new elementary this year. They are excited to be in a new school but are missing their old friends. Harley is in fifth grade and Madi is in sixth. Wow, they are growing up so fast! I wish I could put a stop to it and just enjoy them at this age a little longer.

Running a 5K at midnight

Craig and I decided at the last minute to run a 5k last Friday. We all know that Craig and I don't run but my sister, Julie asked us a week ago if we wanted to run a midnight 5k. We told her yes without any hesitation. Then the day arrived and we forgot about it. We decided that day that we would run. It was at midnight for the city of Sandy. Craig also convinced Nate and Liz Howard to run it as well. He finally talked them into it at 10:30 pm that night. We all thought we were crazy but whatever we were doing it anyways. Craig actually did pretty well, he ended up placing 3rd for his age group and I finished 9th. Nate and Liz did really well considering they were pushing their baby in the stroller the entire time.

Lava Hot Springs

Our family went to Lava Hot Springs over the weekend. It was so much fun. We were able to ride down the river on tubes, go swimming at the pool, and ride four wheelers. The pool had 3 high dives like the Olympics that Madi, Harley and Craig were brave enough to jump off of. I tried to do just the regular diving board and chickened out. We took both dogs and they actually did pretty good. Kiki is still alive:) I will never forget the rain storm we had to walk through but luckily we made it back to camp before the hail came roaring down. Thanks Bob, Glenda, Tom and Heidi for a great time!

Craig was nice enough to carry my tube to the truck
for me.

Trials, trials and more trials!

It seems that we are all faced with trials in our lives but this past week has been a challenge. People very close to me have had some major trials and I am so hurt for them. I want them to know that I am thinking of them and praying for them all the time. I know that we are to learn and grow from our trials but I really hope they can make it. Seeing someone you love hurt so badly makes me want to cry. I am thankful at the same time for the many blessings I have today. Keep striving to do whats best and I know we can make it out together!
